1950's Spiegel Airman Motorbike by Safticycle

Purchased the above 1950's Spiegel Airman burgandy motor bike from the original owner who bought the motorbike at Spiegel's Retail Store - 35th and Ashland in Chicago. 

Safticycle based in La Crosse, WI, manufactured the Spiegel Airman motorbike that was offered through Spiegel retail stores and Spiegel catalog.  Spiegel tried to mimic the success of its larger competitor, Sears, Roebuck & Co., by offering a safe, economical motor bike.


 Features:

  • Briggs-Straton MP Motor 
  • Safticycle proprietary Jack-Shaft belt to chain transmission
  • 24" wheels with deep drop fenders so they looked cool and little ones could ride it.
  • Bendix generator powering Do-Ray head light and tail light
  • Featured a rear drum brake only - no front brake.
  • Burgandy frame and tank.   
  • Optional Speedometer by Stewart & Warner
  • Manufactured by Safticycles INC. in La Crosse, Wisconsin
